New & Noteworthy: August Trend Advisor edition

See which products (along with a retailer from NY) the Trend Advisors are showcasing this month.

New & Noteworthy: August Trend Advisor edition
The Avalon Club Chair designed by Brandon Kershner for Azzurro Living, available through Codarus, is one of my favorite pieces. This comfortable and ergonomic chair has a cat’s-eye pattern which is handwoven in all-weather rope over an exposed architectural, powder-coated aluminum frame, offering both visual and tactile texture. The matte lava-colored cast is trend-right. – Patti Carpenter, Carpenter + Company
Even though walnut has departed the list of trend materials in favor of classic status, product designers continue using it in fresh and exciting ways. Case in point: JIG, designed by Carlo Ballabio for Porada. This new table teams a solid canaletta walnut top with a blown-glass base. Forms are simple, graceful and immensely usable. Available in two sizes, three glass colors( fume, turquoise and my favorite, winy), and walnut or ash wood. – Michelle Lamb, The Trend Curve
It takes a brilliant design sensibility to eschew the staid reduction of a classic and instead reach across myriad style sensibilities to create something that seems new and yet comfortingly familiar.T hat is the case with Inku dinnerware by Sergio Herman for Serax. Melon-shaped bowls echoing Tang Dynasty forms rest among delicately fluted plates that seem to recall Grecian Doric architecture … or is it a modernized paper plate? – Tom Mirabile, Springboard Futures
The Pedestal 01 table by Magic Circus Editions is a display of craftsmanship that is sure to brighten any interior. This piece beautifully juxtaposes color, material and form, catering to consumer desires for joyous and playful spaces. Featuring a marble tabletop atop a painted wooden sub-top, it is accentuated by a polished metal central tube and rounded base. The table is available in a wide range of sizes and colors, offering the versatility to suit diverse spaces. – Kristen Moonjian, FS
I wanted to share something different this month. The town of Southold, N.Y., on the North Fork of Long Island, offers many sustainable and mindful retail shops selling wares from local artisans as well as sustainable-minded manufacturers. This store, Pearl on Main, mixes vintage and modern home décor showing a beautiful and trend-right neutral palette of beautiful beiges, crème and soft, natural tones. – Nancy Fire, Nancy Fire Designs
