A love letter to childhood: Susan Alexandra debuts dreamy wallpaper collection

MIKWAUKEE, Wis. – Chasing Paper has a new collection, designed in partnership with Susan Alexandra, the NYC-based brand founded by accessories designer . The brand is best known for its signature beaded bags and other vibrant, colorful, and quirky accessories that have been spotted on celebrities and influencers around the globe, garnering a devoted following, particularly among Gen Z.

The new collection is inspired by Korn’s own childhood bedroom design, evoking feelings of nostalgia for the 90s and early 2000s. Weaving her personal style into each print, the collection highlights the transformative power of color, humor and self-expression.

“I sincerely believe that wallpaper can change your life,” said Korn. “The floral motif on the wallpaper from my childhood bedroom completely imprinted on my aesthetic, so when it came time to create designs for this new collection with , I knew that I wanted to pay homage to my younger self and her dreams. Chasing Paper helped me bring this deeply personal collection to life, celebrating the joys of childhood as well as aspirations for the future. I hope these quirky prints inspire others to explore wallpaper, take risks, and honor their inner child through design.”

The x Chasing Paper collection features four prints, some with multiple colorways:

Childhood Floral
  • Childhood Floral in pastel and rainbow:  “Available in rainbow, for a bold, bright design,
and pastel, for a playful yet more subdued , including pink, yellow, orange,
blue, and red. “This is my own hand drawn interpretation of the wallpaper that was in my
childhood bedroom. I spent so many hours, tracing over those flowers with my finger,
committing each petal and color to memory. Each night before falling asleep I would pick
my favorite flower.” – Susan Korn
Felicity Stripe
  • Felicity Stripe: “This print blends florals and ruffles to create a stripe pattern akin to
climbing vines. “The first love of my life? Felicity, the American Girl doll. She came
dressed in a corseted, ruffled gown that hasn’t left my mind since. The dress, like the
wallpaper, featured delicate florals floating atop a cream background. I love that this
wallpaper would feel as at home in a 17th century manor as it would in your modern
    apartment!” – Susan Korn
Quirky Stripe
  • Quirky Stripe in pastel and rainbow: “These hand drawn stripes are youthful and fun,
available in a bright, vibrant rainbow colorway, as well as a softer pastel. The rainbow
colorway is inspired by candy buttons, and the pastel draws inspiration from decadent
cakes, topped with copious amounts of piped frosting. “I love stripes! These hand
drawn candy-colored stripes are imperfect and a bit wobbly because no one is perfect” –
    Susan Korn
Summer Trellis
  • Summer Trellis: “This aspirational print evokes the feeling of living in a chateau in the
south of France. Bringing to life the garden of Korn’s dreams, the print features sprigs of
lavender, fresh herbs, and wildflowers in a bountiful bouquet patchwork design, layered
over a cream background. The trellis design breaks up the bouquets, adding a geometric
element. “This is for the life I manifest, a chateau in the south of France complete with a
garden of lavender, herbs and wildflowers. Until that happens, we have this wallpaper
which is as close as you can be to Provence no matter where you are!” – Susan Korn

Chasing Paper’s co-founder said the new collection invites people to push boundaries and think beyond the expected.

“Our collaboration … is about embracing nostalgia and not taking yourself too seriously,” said Rees. “Susan injects her personal style and design perspective into everything she does, and this collection is no exception. It has been a pleasure to watch her bubbly, whimsical, and deeply personal designs come to life through prints that are so different than anything we’ve done before.”
