Oriental Weavers has ramped up its commitment to renewable energy. The company launched its second solar power plant in Ramadan City, Egypt that generates 2.6 MWp of clean electricity.
“This project takes us another step closer to a cleaner, greener future,” said Yasmine Khamis, chair of Oriental Weavers Carpets. “We are integrating renewable energy across our operations while leading the way in sustainable industrial development.”
The new 2.6 MWp solar plant is expected to generate 4.5 GWh annually and cut 2,000 metric tons of carbon emissions each year. Building on this momentum, the company is planning a 5 MWp solar installation by Q3 2026.
“Under its 2025–2030 decarbonization plan, Oriental Weavers plans to install rooftop solar systems totaling 17 MW over the next five years, covering roughly 20% of the facility’s energy needs,” Khamis added. “The initiative supports Egypt’s national renewable energy goals while strengthening the company’s global sustainability leadership.”
By boosting renewable energy use, Oriental Weavers is enhancing energy resilience, reducing environmental impact and reinforcing its position as the world’s largest carpet exporter—demonstrating that sustainability and industrial leadership can go hand in hand.
Oriental Weavers’ parent company, Oriental Weavers Group, is a multi-national collection of companies with manufacturing facilities worldwide.

Rug company Kasthall has introduced new versions of its Tekla collection, featuring a color palette that celebrates tradition and renewal.
With hues like the soft pastel pink Cotton Candy, the rich, velvety purple of Ube Ice Cream, and the vibrant earthy tones of Matcha Latte, there’s a flavor for every aesthetic and mood, according to the company.
Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg designed the Tekla collection in 2007 and believes it has always been about life’s festive moments.
“I wanted it to be reminiscent of parties, candy and confetti, and I feel that the thick wool yarn in combination with the bold colors creates a youthful, vigorous, and slightly rebellious vibe,” Ullberg said.

The new colors are designed to be lived with, whether you’re grounding a minimalist living room or adding a splash of personality to a creative studio, Ullberg added.
Every Tekla rug is tufted at the Kasthall factory in Kinna, Sweden, and is made from thick, felted wool and linen.

The rugs are now available in eight new color variations, including Cotton Candy, Ube Ice Cream, Vanilla Shake, Crème Brûlée, Matcha Latte, Mango Lassi, Blackberry Crumble, and Icy Caramel.
Established in 1889 in Kinna, Sweden, Kasthall operates in 30 countries with showrooms in Stockholm, Malmö, Milan and New York. The company is also a purveyor of the Royal Court of Sweden.

Luxury rug brand Illulian has released the new Dune and Stilo rugs, part of the Essential Collection.
Dune and Stilo offer a moment of visual clarity, calm and reflection, restoring balance and brightness to contemporary spaces and allowing textures, geometries and essential forms to emerge, according to the company.
Dune is inspired by the ever-changing beauty of desert landscapes. The rug translates the wind-sculpted formations of sand dunes through an organic, flowing pattern created using high and low pile heights to mimic the soft undulations of desert crests, generating a three-dimensional effect.

This rug offers a rich tactile experience, inviting the observer to immerse themselves in its serene and meditative aesthetic. The soft, neutral palette enhances its versatility, making it an option for contemporary and minimalist spaces.
Stilo pays homage to the elegance of ancient writing instruments, transforming their precision and craftsmanship “into a textile narrative of quiet luxury.”
The rug’s linear composition, defined by a sequence of fine vertical engravings, evokes the grace of hand-drawn calligraphy, symbolizing a journey through time where tradition meets modernity.

The soft, refined texture is achieved through hand-knotting techniques. The monochrome choice allows Stilo to blend effortlessly into any interior while maintaining its distinctive presence. Minimalist yet expressive, Stilo embodies the philosophy of less is more.
The rugs are knotted and carded by hand and made from Himalayan wool, pure silk and vegetable colors.
Every rug is completely customizable in terms of size and color, and it is possible to create a bespoke carpet, through a personalized selection of colors, patterns and sizes.
Founded in 1959 and headed by Shahnaz Illulian and her sons Davis and Bendis, Illulian is headquartered in the Milan fashion district.
