Products with Purpose: Accent furniture l Nancy Fire

Walking the ICFF show in NYC is always an inspirational journey, but this year I was delighted to experience the beautiful design options from Brazil! As I wandered down each aisle in the Brazilian section of ICFF, I was taken back by the spectacular simplicity of the product assortment showcasing sustainable wood options, artisan applications as well as the refined design beauty. I would like to share two very creative companies that I had the pleasure of meeting at the show.
Meet Massame Studio, a Brazilian sustainable design studio focusing on manual work, and the creation of decorative pieces that are laden with history, meaning and art. At every stage of the creation process, Massame seeks to preserve the traditions passed down from generation to generation among the communities of artisans showcasing the country’s rich design heritage and innovative spirit.
ArborREAL. another sustainable company from Brazil that I came across at the ICFF show in NYC, is a furniture company focusing on wood obtained through sustainable forest management practices. The wood is traced from its origin to ensure the traceability of their products. Bark, knots and fissures are the most beautiful and unique features of nature as their pieces emulate all that nature has to organically offer. Their furniture pieces are unique and accentuate the natural design that arises from craftsmanship from their woodworkers, while respecting the outlines, textures and curves of the wood. The oval table below is called the “Balance Table” its lightness and solidity in balance is born from a single solid Pequot log, handcrafted to express fluidity in its sculptural base and presence in its commanding tabletop. This table won the “Best of ICFF 2025 Award” Best in Show!
