Wood pendants debut in New York’s hottest nightspot | Lighting Report
This week, we’re highlighting lighting from Blue Green Works, Ukrainian company Clayp and Jamie Young Co.
Inspired by skateboard half-pipes, Wood Pendants by Blue Green Works is a system of lighting which moves the role of wood in lighting beyond a structural function to transform the grain itself into a lighting source. Wood pendants debuted this week at Time Again, the hot parking lot nightspot in New York ‘s Chinatown.
Available in two sizes and wood types, the design is stackable, offering customizable configurations. Ranging from $2,200 to $3,200, the pendants are available through four-year-old New York design studio Blue Green Works.

Have you heard of the Ukrainian lighting company, Clayp? Its modern lighting designs combine bold aesthetics with meaningful sustainability. Each piece is handcrafted from natural materials such as Ukrainian clay, marble dust, recycled fibers and locally sourced plants, and it uses a low-temperature drying process (just 93 degrees Fahrenheit) which reduces energy consumption. Four collections include Zakohani (sculptural shapes), Pecherna (a versatile and customizable series that draws on the resilience of European traditions, according to Clayp), Obriy (smooth, fluid lines) and Khvilya (made from clay, herbs and recycled materials and rooted in Ukrainian traditions).

Jamie Young Co. has several new lighting pieces lined up for an Atlanta Market debut, rooted in the essence of Southern California and balancing casual elegance with organic charm. New lighting includes four table lamps, two floor lamps and three pendants.
“While we always pride ourselves on designing with incredible textures and colors, this season we really embraced reactive glazes and serene color palettes,” said company founder Jamie Young. “The ceramics we’re bringing to market are some of the most special pieces I’ve seen in a long time. We played with color in unexpected places, like in classic glass silhouettes with blues, taupes, and greens — distinctive enough to make a statement, yet with enough subtle versatility to enhance any space. Our shapes have also been highly curated this season to highlight flowing waves, curves and a sense of movement, bringing a dynamic energy to solid pieces.”
