The rug in Flynn’s daughter’s nursery embraces more of a muted design with patterns in blue and beige.

High-end area rug brand Flor has collaborated with interior designer and TV personality Brian Patrick Flynn to update his mid-century modern home using rugs that blend style and function.

The partnership coincides with the launch of the brand’s Summer Collection, which offers chic, versatile looks made to spark connection and memories, according to the company.

“For this project, we’re experimenting with all wall-to-wall designs like they would in 1965. We went with a variety of custom designs, working with Flor’s design team to create the perfect rug for each space,” said Flynn. “Every time you look down, you’ll be transitioning from one color to another pattern. My daughter’s playroom will feature a custom buffalo checkered design with blues, purples, and whites, while our nursery will embrace more of a muted design with a blush color palette.”

Designer Brian Patrick Flynn enjoys time with his daughter.

Inspired by his new life chapter as a father, Flynn is making intentional design upgrades to “kid-proof” his spaces without compromising on style.

This partnership between Flor and Flynn is not the first. The two collaborated in 2004 when Flynn was early in his career as an interior designer.

“At that time, an area rug made of carpet tiles was such an innovative concept that no one else was doing. And Flor managed to do that while still offering a range of colors, patterns, textures and more,” said Flynn, founder of Flynnside Out Productions. “What I love about this collaboration with Flor is that now, 21 years later, I’m able to work with the brand again and build upon my design mentality that interiors can be beautiful and practical.”
