HENDERSON, N.C. – Variety Wholesalers is teeing up 132 store Big Lots reopenings in May as its works toward its goal oreviving 219 units by mid-summer.

Big Lots stores will reopen across 14 states in May in two phases, on May 1 and May 15. Locations include:

Alabama: Athens, Decatur, Dothan, Guntersville, Jasper, Mobile, Northport

Florida: Crystal River, Jacksonville, Marianna, Ormond Beach, Panama City

Georgia: Augusta, Brunswick, Buford, Cornelia, , Fort Oglethorpe, Marietta, Smyrna, Valdosta, Vidalia, Waycross

Indiana: Jasper

Kentucky: Campbellsville, Danville, Elizabethtown, Glasgow, Hazard, London, Middlesboro, Richmond, Somerset

Michigan: Burton, Flint, Port Huron, Shelby Township, Southgate

Mississippi: Southhaven

In early April, Variety Wholesales kicked off the Big Lots comeback with the opening of six stores.

Big Lots stores are reopening in a variety of markets ranging from major metropolitan areas to smaller towns, the company said. The stores are being merchandised with treasure hunt items, closeouts and “unbeatable bargains.”  The resurrected Big Lots assortment includes a new apparel department along with home décor, health and beauty items, seasonal products and more.

“The customer response to the newly expanded assortment of fresh inventory and great deals has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Lisa Seigies, president and CEO of . “The Big Lots stores opening in May show our continued commitment to providing the best value to our customers with apparel for the family, everyday needs for the home, kitchen, and pantry plus a huge selection of famous brands.”

Variety Wholesalers also owns and operates 380 stores in the Southeastern U.S. under the Roses, Roses Express, Maxway, Bill’s Dollar Stores, Super 10, Super Dollar and Bargain Town banners. The company acquired the Big Lots brand from Gordon Brothers, which bought Big Lots’ assets out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year.
