Outdoor living takes the stage as High Point exhibitors launch new lines
Several High Point exhibitors made their outdoor category debut this week, introducing new furniture and lighting collections designed for stylish, durable outdoor living.

HIGH POINT — People want to spend more of their time outside, and several exhibitors at High Point addressed that desire by delving into the outdoor category for the first time.
Thayer Coggin debuted its Outer Limits collection, for example, which will start with several classic Milo Baughman designs and make them suitable for the outdoors, said Royale Wiggin, president.
“We’re dipping our toe into the category,” she said.
The launch includes Om 3, Crusin’ and the Chunky Milo designs.
Surya also unveiled its first outdoor line with six collections and 60 pieces of lounge seating, sectionals, dining groups, fire tables and more.
The collection also uses Sunbrella performance acrylic fabric. Several of the groups were designed in collaboration with Ashley Childers, including Antibes, Palma and Porta.
Uttermost debuted its new outdoor category in a 4,000 square foot space. The line has 175 skus initially, mostly of furniture, said Scott Doyle. Over a year in development, the collection includes 12 decorative pillows and other items from Sunbrella.
“We were getting lots of requests from designers and retail partners,” said Doyle, and it was a natural progression for the company. The company is treating the category the same as it does for its indoor line, with a comprehensive offering including lighting, wall décor, art and accessories, he said.
The company also purposely wanted the pieces to flow well together without being too matchy matchy. “We wanted eclectic looks.”
Danish furniture brand Eilersen debuted its first outdoor pieces, the Playtower sofa and the Bun ottoman. Multiple Sunbrella fabrics available for both items.
Currey & Co. entered the decorative outdoor lighting category with several black lantern fixtures as well as an all-weather wicker group, made of polyurethane.
The Novogratz teamed up with Pooky Lighting for their first outdoor lighting line. The partnership is a good fit as both the Novogratz and Pooky embrace color, said Regan Iglesias of Pooky. “We live in such a homogeneous world,” said Bob Novogratz. “We want to put our colorful touch on it.”
Pooky’s line includes pendants, floor and small table lamps, hard-wired sconces and a solar-powered string light set. The lighting is available in pink, yellow, blue and green, and the string lights are available in green and pink.
