Cristi Holcombe Interiors: A family affair | Retail Star
The product assortment now includes candles and jewelry as well as home décor and they have started to hold classes in things like floral and shelf styling.
After a brief stint on HGTV, designer Cristi Holcombe decided to open a retail store in Atlanta in October 2019 when a nearby location in a popular shopping center became available.
“The site needed minimal renovation, just flooring and a few walls,” she said. “My husband and I opened in January 2020 and then COVID hit.”
Holcombe said they had to pivot to online sales for several months and then finally held the grand opening in summer 2020. Although at first growth was slow, they have now expanded the product assortment to include candles and jewelry as well as home décor.
“But, on the flip side, someone might come in off the street and want to buy a whole room,” Holcombe said. “That’s where the design studio comes in.”
They now have six employees at the retail location and four at the design studio. “My mom manages the retail store,” Holcombe said. “As a local business we are involved in the community by sponsoring sports teams and donating items that have been on the floor for a while to local charities.”
Over time, the business has also started to hold classes in things like floral styling and shelf styling.
“With our four-year anniversary coming up this summer, we are planning to celebrate with a local musician and invite the whole community,” Holcombe said.
