FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The holiday decorating season at HomeGoods stores will begin this Friday with early store openings, a sweepstakes and a celebrity partnership.

On Nov. 1, HomeGoods stores will open an hour early for “Deck the Everything Day,” a special event to get consumers shopping for holiday décor. In addition to the 8:30 a.m. opening that morning, the retailer will kick off a social media sweepstakes campaign that runs from Nov. 1-3. Customers have a chance to win one of four $500 gift cards by liking and commenting on the sweepstakes post on @HomeGoods Instagram.

“With a festive selection of high-quality decor at an incredible value, HomeGoods unlocks limitless decorating possibilities, which is why we created Deck the Everything Day,” said Samantha Kussmann, manager of marketing, HomeGoods.

In New York City, HomeGoods will open a pop-up shop in Madison Square Park called the Deck The Everything Day Headquarters. The life-sized gingerbread house will include activities in an immersive holiday environment.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 1 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 2. Visitors will also have a chance to meet actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth on Nov. 1 between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Chenoweth, who is teaming with HomeGoods to promote holiday decorating this season, is starring in a social media video to promote Deck the Everything Day.

“For me, the holidays are all about family and creating new memories while cherishing our traditions from the past,” she said. “That’s why I’m thrilled to partner with HomeGoods to inspire fellow decorators to spread the holiday cheer and embrace the joy of decorating as early as their heart desires.”

In a new consumer survey, HomeGoods found that 74% of holiday decorators say that they associate holiday decorating with “joy,” but more than half feel decorating before Thanksgiving “comes with some level of judgment.” Among respondents, 60% of holiday decorators said they have received some type of remark about the timing of their holiday décor.
