Lighting events in High Point to put on your schedule | Lighting Report
We’ve got our schedules in hand and (hopefully) comfortable shoes on our feet and are ready to hit the ground running at High Point Market this week. Here are some of the lighting opportunities and events to keep in mind if you, too, are headed to market:
Crystorama is bringing together designers, creative leaders, business strategists and industry experts for three days of programming that address issues such as the high-pressure world of television production design, the financial realities of building a profitable design firm, and the emerging science behind lighting and well-being.
From 4 -5 p.m. on Saturday, a panel discussion led by set decorator Brian Patrick Flynn explores the fast-paced world of production design and set decoration, and the creative pressure, tight timelines and what it takes to design memorable spaces for television. It will be followed by the That’s a Wrap party with Crystorama’s many interior design Tastemakers.
On Sunday, Oct. 18, Crystorama will host another showroom panel discussion, from 2- 3 p.m., focused on how interior designers can generate higher design fees.
Ladies Who Lunch will take place on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Crystorama’s showroom and will include a candid conversation moderated by designer Antonio Deloatch about building a business, taking risks and creating a career on your own terms.
Later Monday, from 2- 3 p.m., there will be a panel discussion about how light shapes the way we feel at home.
All events will take place in Crystorama’s showroom: IHFC, H241 (second floor).

If you need a little pick-me-up during market, WAC Group is hosting a coffee break Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 19 and 20 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in its IHFC showroom (H327). As previously reported, WAC is also hosting a Pink Out cocktail party in its showroom this Saturday, Oct. 17, from 2–4 p.m. in support of City of Hope.

Buster + Punch is at High Point Market this week to debut its Hex collection, which encompasses lighting, hardware, and switches and dimmers. Inspired by Art Deco and midcentury design, the collection has a distinctive geometric silhouette. Hex incorporates precision-engineered solid metal, PVD finishes and selected products made from marine-grade Stainless Steel 316. Buster + Punch is also collaborating with Tony Piloseno, founder of Tonester Paints, on a series of paint and metal pairings.

Ahead of market, we asked industry executives about their favorite raw material to work with. You can read about what those in the lighting industry said here.

And if you’re in the market for a great-looking lamp, we’ve got a few to share here.
Hope to see you in High Point!
