MK Workshop opens Austin showroom
The appointment-only design studio will offer an assortment of bespoke furniture, handwoven fabrics and custom rugs.
AUSTIN, Texas — MK Workshop will unveil its new interior design showroom in the heart of Austin’s vibrant South Congress district next week.
The 667-square-foot appointment-only showroom, nestled within the historic Penn Field — a former 1918 airfield — offers a unique blend of custom and vintage designs will have a collection of bespoke furniture, handwoven fabrics and custom rugs. It opens Thursday, Sept. 26.
The showroom features signature pieces such as the award-winning Geometry Rug line, along with prototypes of the “cube” nightstand, “circles” counter stool, and the origami coffee table. Exclusive lighting from Blueprint Lighting, available only at this location in Texas, will also be showcased.
“This historic location aligns perfectly with our dedication to preserving and restoring existing structures while supporting local craftspeople and materials. We are excited to have the opportunity to build off of a mission that we strive to intertwine throughout all of our projects,” said Petra McKenzie, co-founder of MK Workshop with Jonah Kilday.
McKenzie and Kilday founded ML Workshop as a design studio in 2013. It has offices in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Austin.
“The showroom embodies our brand’s values, offering clients the opportunity to ‘shop our living room’ and select pieces we genuinely believe in,” Kilday said.
