This year, the event's 16th edition will place a particular emphasis on contemporary works, with 12 new galleries joining the fair for the first time.

Among the group is Indian collectible design gallery Aequō, which will showcase the work of international designers referencing India's history of craftsmanship.

As part of Aequō's presentation, American interior designer Kelly Wearstler will present a coffee table, a side table and a console finished in bronze and copper from her most recent furniture collection.

Local gallery Peter Layton's London Glassblowing will also be in attendance – England's longest-running hot glass studio. The gallery will showcase a woodland-themed cabinet by French furniture maker Coucou Manou, created from black valchromat and ash, displayed alongside its signature glassworks.

Also a local gallery, Charles Burnand will join the lineup, showing works by a range of designers working with materials including limestone and glass. Puerto Rico-based design studio Reynold Rodriguez will feature a mahogany carving informed by the aftermath of the 2017 Hurricane Maria, which devastated the northeastern Caribbean.

A host of galleries will return to the fair, such as the nearby Gallery Fumi. The gallery will present an intricate oak and brass cabinet from Italian designer Francesco Perini's Nucleo collection, which launched at last month's London Design Festival.

Parisian Galerie Kreo will showcase Lucky Monkey, an illustrative mirror characterised by a traditional Venetian engraving, by Spanish designer Jaime Hayon.

Also part of the group, London gallery Adrian Sassoon will feature hand-thrown porcelain vases by British artist Felicity Aylieff, which were painted with striking cobalt blue oxide.

Galerie Maria Wettergren, based in Paris, is another gallery returning to the fair. The organisation will unveil Indian designer Dhruv Agarwal's Bloom chandelier.

Informed by traditional Channapatna toy artisans, the piece features wooden elements arranged in concentric circles. Its additional brightly coloured floral motifs were conceived to blend tradition with contemporary craft.

Jewellery designer and glassmaker Luisa Restrepo of Ammann Gallery will present Coriolis, a dramatic wall sculpture crafted from intricate green and blue knots of fused stained glass.

Restrepo runs a contemporary jewellery and collectible design studio in Mexico City. Coriolis is one of a series of fair offerings created by designers whose practice centres on jewellery or glass.

PAD London is the sister fair of PAD Paris, first launched in 1998. The Parisian edition takes place every April in the city's Jardin des Tuileries.

"PAD fairs have become a byword for connoisseurship, exquisite taste and curatorial flair, showcasing the very best in modern and contemporary design and historical design from the world's leading galleries," said the fair.

"With their distinct approach to collecting, the events epitomise how artistic genres across time and periods interact to reveal astonishing combinations and create the most individual and striking interiors."
