Sherwin-Williams leans into green for its 2027 Color of the Year
Paint company Sherwin-Williams has selected Celery, a “light and airy herbal green,” for its 2027 Color of the Year.
The company’s Trendsight Team identified the color, an existing one in the Sherwin-Williams lineup, as both a calming hue and one that brings a dose of freshness. It was chosen for both Sherwin-Williams (SW 6421) and HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams (HGSW6421).
“Celery was chosen as the 2027 Color of the Year because it reflects today’s priorities: wellness, balance and connection,” said Ashley Banbury, color marketing manager at Sherwin-Williams. “Homeowners and designers are increasingly prioritizing wellness at home, seeking soothing environments that support mental health and overall well-being.”
“Celery has a lot of versatility,” Banbury told Home Accents Today. “It can be soft and airy and breezy [when paired with white] but also playful [when paired with a cranberry red], or with brown for an elevated look. There’s a lot of ways to use this color to embrace your own style. It is a soft green with a yellow undertone, so it offers a slight glow but also has an edginess to it. Chartreuse and acidic colors and even buttery yellows are in fashion; this is a nice merging of those but in a usable paint color.”
Sherwin-Williams pulled together a palette to complement Celery that ranges from light neutrals like White Flour (SW 7102) and Woven Wicker (SW 9104) to softer accents including Potentially Purple (SW 6821) and Cosmos (SW 6528), alongside grounding shades such as Artichoke (SW 6179), Georgian Bay (SW 6509), Kirsch Red (SW 6313) and Plum Brown (SW 6272).
