NEW YORK – With deep roots in high-end handcrafted area rugs, Surya Inc. has spent the past several years focused on dominating the machine-made sector in pursuit of a bigger prize: mass merchant business.

The effort is paying off.

Now into its eighth year offering an ever-growing assortment of machine- made rugs, Surya is said to be the U.S.’s largest importer of machine woven rugs from Turkey, “giving us the ability to bring innovative products to market, supported by a very secure product pipeline,” Satya Tiwari, president, told HTT.

He also pointed to the family owned and operated company’s recent and significant growth within the mass merchant channel over the past 18 months, which Tiwari described as “a testament to our commitment to innovation and understanding our customers’ needs.”

He continued: “Surya Inc has made substantial strides in the mass merchant arena, underscoring our relentless pursuit of innovation and our keen understanding of what customers want to shop with these retailers. We are excited about the prospect of sustaining this growth as we roll out new, innovative products designed to meet the specific needs of this channel.”

At the New York Home Fashions Market, Surya is launching a comprehensive mix of new collections that aim to feed future category growth next year and beyond. That includes:

  • New qualities of machine-woven washable rugs
  • New outdoor rugs
  • Low-profile, foldable rugs offered with creative new packaging
  • A full line of tufted utility scatter rugs
  • New anti-fatigue door mats

On the branded side, the company is presenting two influencer branded collections – one with designer Becki Owens, the other with My Texas House by designer Erin Vogelpohl. Surya is also building out its proprietary direct-to-consumer “Livabliss” brand with new additions.

“As we look ahead to 2025, we are confident that this momentum will continue as we develop and deliver even more cutting-edge products specifically tailored for the mass merchant channel,” Tiwari said.

Surya’s New York showroom is located at 230 5th Ave., Suite 1503.
