Two lighting companies navigate executive leadership changes

Two high-end lighting manufacturers announced leadership changes this week.

On Monday, Vermont-based announced that , who has been with the company for 24 years, most recently as vice president of operations, has been promoted to president and general manager. CEO has left the company. No reason was given for Mullen’s departure.

Two days later, New York-based Group, whose brands include Hudson Valley Lighting, Mitzi, Corbett, Troy Lighting, and the recently acquired , announced its own executive transition: President Malaina Matheus will become CEO on Sept. 1. She succeeds company founder , who will become executive chairman of the company.

Matheus has been with HVLG for 16 years. Her promotion to CEO has been “thoughtfully planned,” the company said in a release. It credited Matheus with shepherding the company’s growth, expanding into new markets and helping guide the acquisitions of Sonneman and Schoolhouse.
