Abbyson acquired by Green River Group, new president appointed
Asian furniture manufacturer Green River Group has acquired both the assets and intellectual property of furniture importer Abbyson Living.
LOS ANGELES – Asian furniture manufacturer Green River Group has acquired both the assets and intellectual property of furniture importer Abbyson Living. Green River, also the owner of HH2 (formerly Hillsdale Furniture), owns and operates 14 furniture factories throughout Asia.
Angela Hsu, Green River’s executive vice president and granddaughter of company founder Omori Hsu, will lead Abbyson as president. Hsu also leads HH2. Abbyson’s current management team will remain in place, officials told Furniture Today.
The asset acquisition, completed in August, represents a “strategic integration of Green River Group’s extensive sourcing and manufacturing capabilities” with Abbyson’s designs and expansive product offerings.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Abbyson Home into the Green River family,” said Hsu. “This acquisition allows us to harness the strengths of both organizations: combining Abbyson’s 30-plus years of design expertise with Green River’s robust global sourcing and manufacturing networks. Together, we will build upon Abbyson’s legacy, introducing hundreds of new, high-quality designs while elevating our sustainability efforts and operational efficiencies.”
The acquisition should allow Abbyson to improve its supply chain, quality control, and delivery strategies, the company said. Increased shipping capabilities from the Midwest and East Coast are being developed and should be complete by 2025.
Abbyson said its retail and e-commerce partnerships remain unchanged. It also said it plans to deepen its commitment to sustainability by reinforcing its eco-friendly manufacturing practices.
Media reports indicate Green River also acquired Vogue Home Furnishings.
