Currey & Company sets market introductions, readies for new headquarters

HIGH POINT — Heading into the fall High Point Market, Currey & Company is unveiling its new upholstery collection, made in North Carolina, and an English-inspired collection of designs, as well as announcing its new headquarters.

The 15-piece collection features clean tailoring, considered proportions and dressmaker-style details such as contrast welting, fringe and embroidery. Orchestrated by Creative Director Cecil Adams, the collection was envisioned to bring distinctive frames and fabrics that will be readily available to designer customers.

“Each piece helps tell a style story in the Currey showroom with a focus on natural, sustainable materials that align with our design philosophy and our product mix,” said Adams.

Highlights include:

  • Constance Game Chair, Mandarin Pearl, features smooth-rolling castors, Mandarin-inspired fabric and a playful pompom fringe.
  • Tristan Bench, Abingdon Jewel, is wrapped in printed velvet and features gracefully curved arms and a solid maple frame. The Tristan Chair, Banks Desert, is the companion piece in a champagne finish and warm desert-pink velvet.
  • Paula Bench, Lacosta Fern, is upholstered in a lush fern-green velvet with dressmaker details: fabric-covered buttons, a graceful drop skirt and pleats lined in a complementary fabric, and embroidered trim.

In addition, Currey & Company will debut Modern English, a collection of new designs inspired by the Bloomsbury Group, including upholstery, chandeliers, lanterns, lamps, accessories and shades.

Highlights from this collection include the Fritillaria Floor Lamp, inspired by the tulip; the Minoan Vessel, offering a multi-colored porcelain form; the Sailor’s Valentine Barbados Box, a mosaic of hand-collected purple, white, and tan shells, a glossy white interior, and a lid crowned with a variety of shells; the Robertson Settee, with summer flowers and denim-colored accent pillows; the Madeline Drum Lamp Shad, with a stenciled pattern of colorful wildflowers on cotton; and the Hedy Medium Red Chandelier, part of the Marjorie Skouras Collection.

New headquarters

The family-owned designer lighting and home furnishings manufacturer has acquired 119,000-square-foot building at 4470 Greer Circle, Stone Mountain, Ga., to serve as its new headquarters.

Currey & Company expects to move from its longtime home on Best Friend Road in mid-to-late 2027.

The five-year-old facility was purpose-built for furniture distribution (formerly Georgia Furniture Mart), with 39-foot clear ceilings, a 45,650-square-foot mezzanine and a large, secure truck court. It will house the company’s offices, warehouse, shipping, product development space, design library and a working corporate showroom.

An adjacent pre-graded site allows for roughly 87,000 square feet of future expansion, and part of the land will become an organic community garden.

The new location, minutes from Highway 78 and I-285, adds shipping capacity and a covered customer pickup area.

“After nearly 25 years at Best Friend Road, I see this move as much more than a change of address,” said Brownlee Currey, CEO. “We have the chance to build a workplace around the company we are becoming rather than continuing to adapt a building around the company we used to be. As a family-owned business, having the independence to make that kind of long-term investment is enormously meaningful.”

Currey & Company’s High Point showroom is located in the International Home Furnishings Center, space M-110.
