Currey highlights work of 3 designers in new lighting collections
The company is also unveiling an outdoor collection in High Point this weekend.

HIGH POINT — Currey & Company is unveiling new collections from its design partners and debuting a woven outdoor collection of lighting pendants and sconces at High Point Market this weekend.
Outdoor lighting is a new category for the company. The outdoor collection is constructed of all-weather wicker, which is made from polyethylene and selected for its strength and flexibility and for the fact that it is nontoxic and recyclable, Currey said. The fade and weather-resistant fiber is used to wrap the metal fixture frames and weave an open pattern onto the lighting design.
“With the revival of Bohemian-style, the new pendants and sconces give a casual and natural vibe to any outdoor space while providing practical illumination as the sun goes down,” said Currey. Individual pieces include the Fishtrap and Barbary Fluted pendants and the Barbary wall sconce. There are nine pieces in the collection altogether.
Currey is also adding lighting to its designer collections that incorporate three distinct concepts — Art Deco, Surrealism and an Under the Sea aesthetic.
Designer Bunny Williams, who has collaborated with Currey since 2017, has created three new lighting designs for this market, all inspired by antiques pieces with an Art Deco feel. The Bradshaw Collection includes a chandelier, wall sconce and pendant made of wrought iron in a warm brass finish with a columnar shape defined by sparkling crystal baguettes in the middle and frosted glass discs that flutter up and extend down to create flourishes on the top and bottom. The uppermost one is curved like a coronet.
Marjorie Skouras, who has partnered with Currey since 2011, has a new seven-piece collection that includes a chandelier and four wall sconces that reflect her fascination with Surrealism in art, nature, architecture and jewelry. The Tona wall sconce honors the Aztec culture of Mexico, where Skouras now lives. Inspired by a vintage brooch, Tona is made of iron in a gold-leaf finish, with wavy rays emanating from a circular disk of white marble.
Known for her award-winning textile designs, Aviva Stanoff has always turned to the natural world and the sea for inspiration. Currey first introduced lighting and furniture designs by Stanoff in 2016. Her chandelier designs fast became best sellers for the company. Two new lighting designs debut this April that celebrate natural materials and artisanal handiwork: the Shinju Pearl Orb Chandelier made of wrought iron in a contemporary silver leaf finish to suggest an organic seascape, and a matching chandelier.
Currey’s newly renovated High Point showroom is located at 209 S. Main Street.
