From and Commune: Cylinder lanterns, Origami and Linear

Remains Lighting and Los Angeles-based design studio Commune have introduced a wide range of designs for their 10th Anniversary Collection. These include new lighting designs, mirrors, and for the first time, sculptural accessories, all handcrafted in Remains Lighting’s Brooklyn factory. The new Cylinder lantern collection is a series of lighting fixtures inspired by Japanese and Spanish design traditions. Each piece pairs custom blown glass with finely crafted brass. There are both indoor and outdoor options. The Linear sconce collection is a trio of wall sconces with a brass mesh scrim reminiscent of woven cloth. The Origami collection is inspired by traditional origami, is made from solid brass and includes a flush mount, sconce and faceted wastebin.

Lodes_Diesel D-Burned lighting
Lodes collaborated with Diesel on D-Burned lighting

Lodes has teamed with Diesel to create D-Burned, a suspension lamp that has the look of devoré denim. Similar to burnout fabric, devoré denim selectively dissolves certain fibers to create a pattern with a semi-transparent effect. This technique was frequently used by Glenn Martens in Diesel’s runway collections. The suspension lamp is designed to filter light through an interplay of transparency, shadow, and raw materials. It’s illuminated by a 360° light tube with soft diffused lighting and is available in two standard sizes — 60 cm and 120 cm.

Italian design studio Gaspare Asaro has a few new pieces designed by Creative Director Vittorio Asaro and made in Italy. Luna is a round wall light with an elliptical cross-section and cut-outs that let you see a soft glow from numerous angles. It’s available in 10 metal finishes and eight enamel colors.

The plays with translucency and transparency by alternating clear or tinted glass with translucent acrylic, topped by a curved glass shade. It’s available in ten metal finishes and five glass colors.

And Shell, which can be used as a ceiling or wall light, is forged from cast brass to resemble a shell or peapod filled with three handblown Sfera globes. It’s available in 10 metal finishes and eight enamel colors.
