Ikea U.S. adding 8 new format stores in 2025
The Top 100 retailer also revealed performance highlights across numerous areas from its 2024 Annual Summary.

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — Top 100 retailer Ikea U.S. will open eight of its new format stores by the spring or summer of this year.
The Conshohocken, Pa.-based subsidiary of the Swedish furniture maker and retailer has seen its U.S. market share grow by 13.6% in the past five years, and it is building on its $2.2 billion investment in omnichannel growth with its newest stores.
In 2025, Ikea U.S. will continue expansion by opening eight new locations, including seven new Plan & order points with Pick-up in Cherry Hill, Pa.; Hunt Valley, Md.; Beaverton, Ore.; Scottsdale, Ariz.; and three locations in California (Thousand Oaks, Ontario and Colma); as well as one Pick-up point in Santa Monica.
In addition to the store openings announcement, Ikea U.S. shared highlights from its 2024 Annual Summary, with a look back at how the company has continued to prioritize and reach customers in new and innovative ways.
“Our strategy continues to prioritize our customer’s needs, and in FY24, we continued to make everyday living more accessible, especially during a time when we know economic challenges are leading to a decrease in disposable income for many Americans,” said CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer Javier Quiñones. “As we gear up for the 40th anniversary of Ikea U.S. in 2025, we’re committed to reaching even more customers where they are.”
Highlights from the Annual Summary include:
- Launched a Spanish-language website in July 2024 marking a significant step in the Ikea experience becoming more inclusive and accessible.
- Enhanced its e-commerce experience, resulting in a 5.6% increase in remote sales compared with the previous year.
- Introduced the first-ever buy now, pay later program with Afterpay.
- Concluded the year with $5.5 billion in total sales and $1.9 billion in e-commerce sales.
- Reintroduced New Lower Prices, leading to a 2.7% increase in the number of pieces purchased per basket.
- Opened eight new Plan & order points in addition to the existing 39 pick-up points and 21,000 FedEx collection points across the country, as well as opened the first small format store in Rockwall, Texas, the third Ikea location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
- Increased products eligible to be bought back and resold in-store and online in the As-is section to 2,700 items.
- Used electric delivery vehicles in 48 locations and have 374 EV chargers installed at Ikea U.S. stores boosting zero-emission deliveries in the U.S. by more than 90% since fiscal 2023.
- Welcomed the newest addition to the plant-based food family, the Ikea Plant Dog, and sold nearly 185,000.
- Brought One Home, One Planet U.S. back to the House of Sweden in Washington D.C., where more than 100 participants brainstormed actions to advance a circular economy, affordable housing and clean construction.
- Developed and unveiled a model home designed with trauma-informed principles at Ikea Live Oak in Texas.
- Expanded co-worker benefits around family and medical leave of absence (FMLA), financial support, 401(k), Medicare and more.
- Supported federal legislation that will increase the supply of recycled textile materials in California and expand recycling infrastructure across the country.
- Provided more than $1.5 million in retail value of in-kind and financial donations to 220 nonprofits.
