As part of Milan Design Week, Flos has unveiled two lighting collections: Maap by Erwan Bouroullec and Nocturne by Konstantin Grcic, with special installations. At the Flos flagship store, Maap, a sculptural paper-like wall lamp, is paired with a multimedia installation by the designer titled “The Sound of Chaos”. Formed from steel and wrapped in an unexpected Tyvek casing, the light emits a soft, diffused glow. There is a accompanying sound and video component that evokes the creative process.

Nocturne is a family of modular, minimalistic lighting inspired by moonglow. The immersive installation echoes Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

It is meant to accompany, not replace, its 2023 comprehensive catalog, the lighting company noted in an email. “Together, these two volumes present our complete portfolio: an evolving expression of lighting as works of art,” it said. The release features two new collections: Volare and Waterfall.
