New & Noteworthy: June Trend Advisor edition
“The inspiration for the June Notable comes from atmospheric blues. Evoking the tranquility of clear skies and wide-open spaces, light and airy blue follows the desire for personal expression, character and personality in today’s homes. Aerial View is a clean, mood-boosting blue that feels like a breath of freshness. When used with light neutrals and natural materials it has a breezy coastal vibe; combined with white, glass and sleek metals it takes on a modern look. Bright pops of color increase the energy in spaces where it is used. ” , Behr Paint Company

“Hand-knotted in New Zealand wool, ‘s Lund Tors blends Bauhaus geometry with Swedish Modern ease. Its soft grid and muted palette feel both refined and grounded, while the irregular silhouette breaks free from the standard rectangle, offering a sculptural, space-defining presence—subtle, characterful, and right on trend.” – Saana Baker,

““Dutch designer Richard Hutten introduced his Playing with Tradition collection for Jaipur during Milan Design Week in April. The collection caught my eye because its traditionally made rugs and their generations-old patterns are irreverently interrupted with handfuls of “confetti” and other contemporary elements. The colors of these “interventions” are often neon’s and obviously contemporary. Shown here is Hutten’s Confetti 2, which is one of nine designs in the group. The scattered confetti draw inspiration from India’s joyous Holi festival, and to my eye also refer to Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s decades of ebullient dots. Other designs in the group feature slapstick banana peels and other funny and pleasing shapes. 3D textures help the designs lift from their traditional background, emphasizing their pleasing disruption. These rugs, delightful on their own, suggest a fun blending of tradition and novelty in other product categories, as well as in the creation of assortments (and interiors) that evoke both comfort and humor.”,
