Pack something pink in your High Point suitcase

HIGH POINT – The home furnishings industry will support breast cancer awareness this month with a ‘Pink Out‘ Oct. 26 during High Point Market, and a silent auction arranged by The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation.
October was designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month in 1989 to raise awareness for breast cancer, increase screenings and provide support for patients and survivors. Since that time, campaigns such as these have helped reduce breast cancer deaths in the United States by 44%, according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
City of Hope is encouraging exhibitors and market attendees to wear pink to High Point Market on October 26 to help spread awareness and be a part of the race for a cure.
Sarreid has created a one-of-a-kind Pink Giselle Jupe Dining Table to be auctioned with proceeds to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
And bidding is now open for The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Harvesting Hope Silent Auction. Items up for bid include furniture, home décor, mattresses, experiences, gift cards, and other items donated by leading companies. Every bid supports The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation’s mission to provide financial assistance—in the form of grants—to individuals in the design and furnishings industry who are battling breast cancer.
“We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed items, helped spread the word, and those who will place bids,” said Rob Mayer, chairman of The Common Thread for the Cure and president of Mayer Fabrics. “This event truly demonstrates how our industry comes together to support its own. Every dollar raised will directly fund grants that ease the financial burden for those in our industry undergoing treatment—providing real relief when it’s needed most. We invite everyone to bid to help us advance our mission and make a difference in the lives of those among us who are battling breast cancer.”
Featured items include a Linen-clad Demilune Chest donated by Lexington Home Brands, a swivel glider from Norwalk Furniture, an upholstered queen-size bed donated by Wesley Allen, three CloverLane mattresses donated by DeLandis Sleep, a living room chest from Hooker Furniture and a side table from Hickory Chair. Other items include NASCAR and Petty Museum memorabilia signed by Richard Petty, donated by the Petty Family Foundation, a set of two prints from Libby Langdon Interiors for Paragon Art, a set of three down pillows from Crypton, an outdoor lounge chair donated by Armen Living, and more. Additionally, various gift cards, experiences, jewelry, and a plethora of Yeti products will also be available. Bidding starts at $25.
Bidding runs through Oct. 29.
Wesley Allen will host an event on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., featuring opening remarks from High Point Mayor Cyril Jefferson and Kathy Wall Hunt, a former board member of the Common Thread for the Cure and founder of PR firm The Media Matters. The event will also feature inspiring stories from breast cancer survivors in the industry. Guests will enjoy light bites, cocktails, and meaningful connections as the company unveils its Morgan Upholstered Bed, donated to the auction.
Wesley Allen’s showroom is located at 100 N. Hamilton.
