From cookies to custom trays: Designers reveal their top client gifts

With the holidays now upon us, the Interior Design Community asked its Instagram followers: What are you gifting clients this year? Here are some of designers‘ responses. Visit IDC’s Instagram page for the full post.

Niki Papadopoulos of Williams Papadopoulos Design: “We usually make donations to 3 charities in honor of our clients and send a card listing everywhere we donated and why it is meaningful to us.”

Dvira Interiors: “For the second year in a row, our team is rolling up our sleeves for a sweet tradition, baking for our clients! We’re putting together 50 beautifully packaged boxes this year, complete with bows, fancy wrapping and our custom-printed logos. It’s our way of bonding as a team while spreading a little extra warmth and gratitude to the people we work with.”

The Schoop: “Custom monogrammed trays! Picked a color that matched each client’s aesthetic preference and monogrammed it either with the household’s monogram (i.e., his and hers with surname in the middle), or just the primary client of the household’s initials. Personalized, thoughtful, useful and a nice reminder of someone who pays attention – but it didn’t break the bank!”

Elizabeth Yager Designs: “Cookbooks from a local author for my kitchen remodels. Christmas kitchen sink stoppers as well! They are so unique.”

Suzanne M. Rogers Interiors: “My private label luxury candles are always a hit.”

Shannin Williams: “I send out hand rendered Christmas cards of a space to all of my clients that worked with me. They love them and keep them out all year.”

Merkel Interiors: “I ordered small desk clocks from Addison Ross. Each one is selected based on the color scheme of the clients’ home. I have been working with my assistant to wrap these for two months now! It’s been quite the undertaking! We give them to all past and present clients.”

Ivonne Valencia Design: “I don’t do gifts for Christmas but I gift them a personal coffee table book at the end of the project. I find that a lot of people don’t appreciate or purchase a good coffee table book like designers do! I have a bunch in my home. But clients always love them. I just gave a client that enjoys whiskey a rare whiskey book, for example.”

Corinne Gail Interior Design: “I love hosting a dinner party for all of my clients during the year. I reserve a private banquet room at a favorite local restaurant, usually in December. Occasionally, I host other client events during the year, too. Clients love meeting each other and talking about their designs. Truly it’s a lot of fun.”

Design Vision Interiors: “Fiasconaro/Dolce & Gabbana panettone. They come in gorgeous tin boxes!”

Lindsey Albrecht Design: “This year I’m doing monogrammed blankets for smaller clients and a bouquet of fresh flowers delivered the week of Christmas for larger clients. I did the flowers last year and they were a big hit because customers had fresh flowers to use as a centerpiece.”

The Interior Design Group: “Luxury home fragrance from our favorite fragrance bar in Paris – of course!”

Prudence Bailey Interior Design: “Custom monogrammed dinner napkins and powder room guest towels.”

Reusch Interior Design: “We send flowers. It seems to be the easiest thing to do and who doesn’t love to get flowers?”

Aislinn Designs: “I team up with a friend/small business owner that makes incredible toffee. It’s a fun seasonal delight that my clients (past and present) look forward to each year. A handwritten note of appreciation is also included.”

Powell Brower Interiors: “Wine, chocolates and a piece of pottery made by me.”

Design Legacy: Silverton Hill Stemware has the most amazing stem and barware. We’re giving that. The colorful wine stems have a tone for every personality and they are delightfully light in hand. The cut glass highballs and cigar whiskey shorts are perfect for the men.”

Patricia Gaylor: “A card telling them how lucky they are that they have me. ?”
