New & Noteworthy: Around the world at Shoppe Object

Shoppe Object, which wrapped up in New York last week, prides itself on its unique product offerings, highlighting both international brands and vendors who only showcase their wares in New York. There were wonderful discoveries down every aisle; here is a sampling.
Kiliim ceramics upholds Egyptian craft-making; these ceramic bowls and platters depict flora and fauna seen in Egypt’s Fayoum desert oasis. The company also produces glassware and textiles.
Lulasclan is a South African company founded by textiles designer Bonolo Chepape who reinterprets African print-making styles into a universal language. The collection of pillows, table runners and kitchen textiles play with geometric forms and color. “I think it shows the vibrancy of Africa,” said Chepape.
Head On Design is a fellow South African company that celebrates African wildlife with an artistic take on taxidermy. These designs, some of them designed by artist Sharon Boonzaler, are made from wood or recycled paper, come flat-packed and a portion of proceeds support animal conservation.
These animal cuties from Zuny are made from vegan leather and are weighted, making them excellent bookends or paperweights. Stools and bag charms are also part of the assortment.
With roots in Guatemala and upstate New York, Mayan Hands features goods crafted by Maya women artists. These baskets are woven from longleaf pine needles.
