US edition of Dezeen Agenda explores the "extremely broken" lighting manufacturing industry

The latest newsletter in our US edition of Dezeen Agenda features an interview with Bruce Hannah about the state of furniture design, and an investigation into how US lighting brands are innovating. Subscribe today!
As Donald Judd's Architecture Office reopens in Marfa following restoration, this US edition of Dezeen Agenda looks at furniture. Industrial designer Hannah told Dezeen that today's furniture designers are working with "better ingredients".
"The recipe hasn't changed, but the ingredients have mostly changed for the better," Hannah said.
In a related field, Dezeen reporter Ellen Eberhardt investigates how American lighting companies are using 3D-printing and digital manufacturing to try and fix the "extremely broken" lighting manufacturing industry.
Elswhere in the newsletter, we spotlight a trio of hospitality projects in New York, from SOM's restoration of the Waldorf Astoria, to the Rockwell Group's latest restaurant in the Flatiron District and a hotel inside a 1917 lodging house in NoHo.
The latest newsletter also featured the latest project completed by Herzog & de Meuron in Philadelphia and a wood cabin in Washington State elevated on steel columns.
