Promotion: flooring brand Forbo's Flotex flooring uses digital printing technology to apply patterns to its durable surface.

Named Flotex Vision, the flooring is digitally printed with a broad choice of patterns designed by Forbo's in-house design team and by renowned names in the design world, including Philippe Starck and Ettore Sottsass.

The company also offers a bespoke surface where designers are invited to create their own graphics for the flooring.

Flotex Vision is enhanced with a new design every year based on a trend report carried out by Forbo

"As the Flotex Vision collection is digitally printed, there is a very large amount of design freedom that designers can play with," said Forbo. "As well as the regular collection, there is a digital library that contains another range of designs in multiple categories like Floral, Linear, Stone and Ceramic."

Within the aforementioned categories, which are informed by naturally occurring and time-honoured building materials, the Forbo design team looked to the brand's yearly trend report to create an annual theme that will resonate with specifiers.

Regarding Nature is the theme of 2025, which the brand says pays tribute to biophilic design principles and the concept of "bringing the outside in".

"The design team works on translating the theme to a flooring pattern," added the brand. "Often multiple designs are developed and a nice combination of designs is chosen."

"These are added to the digital library so customers get new inspiration every year with new designs and new themes."

Specifiers also have the opportunity to work with designers themselves, providing the ability to custom-design bespoke flooring.

This process works in tandem with the Forbo design team, who are able to advise on the capabilities of the product and make suggestions as to how the flooring can best be developed.

Beyond its capacity for customisation, Flotex Vision's robust material makeup – comprising a reinforced solid vinyl base covered with densely flocked nylon fibres – makes it a versatile choice for interiors.

According to the company, Flotex represents the next generation of flooring – a high-performance surface engineered for durability, comfort and visual impact. Combining a robust structure with a soft, quiet underfoot, it is designed to deliver long-term resilience in the most demanding spaces.

The nylon fibres have anti-slip and sound-absorbing properties, creating safe, calm and productive interiors.
