handmade terracotta tiles meet oak surfaces within tri-oz café’s tranquil interiors in thailand

Studiowatt extends café interiors into the natural landscape

Tri-Oz Café by Studiowatt transforms a compact 97-sqm commercial unit into a calm and tactile café environment immersed in Thailand’s greenery. The project is shaped by an interest in calmness, material warmth, and a close relationship with nature. Large glazed openings frame surrounding greenery and allow daylight to penetrate deep into the interior. The atmosphere changes subtly throughout the day, while the boundary between inside and outside remains deliberately soft. The spatial organization is intentionally simple. A long communal table forms the center of the room, accompanied by integrated banquette seating along the perimeter. Furniture is conceived as part of the architecture itself, allowing the interior to read as a continuous environment rather than an arrangement of separate objects.

A natural material palette and subtle tones define Tri-Oz Café

Materiality plays an essential role in the project, designed by interior design practice Studiowatt. Handmade terracotta tiles introduce warmth and slight irregularities, while solid oak and oak veneer provide tactile surfaces that will continue to gain character over time. Beige painted plaster and white porcelain flooring establish a restrained backdrop that allows light and material textures to become more apparent. Several furniture pieces borrow the language of outdoor furnishings. Their simple profiles and honest material expression reinforce the feeling of being close to the landscape, despite being entirely indoors. The café accommodates different rhythms of occupation throughout the day, gathering around a shared table, working individually beside a window, or simply sitting quietly in the changing light and views of greenery.
