Home Comfort Rugs closes shop: ‘It was the only choice’

Though the Georgia-based area rug brand has been in business for 48 years, Home Comfort Rugs announced this week that it is up shop, citing the “current economic climate” as a key reason. The wholesale brand will cease operations on Sept. 30 and will not take new orders after Thursday, Sept. 18.

“Closing down our company was a very difficult decision, but in the end, it became clear that it was the only choice we could make due to the current economic climate,” President Renee Ringstad said in an email to the brand’s customers. “We sincerely appreciate all the years that many, if not most, of our loyal customers (can I say ‘friends’) have been with us as we endeavored to keep the lines new, practical and beautiful.

“We couldn’t have lasted 48 years — yes, 48 years — without the support of our great customers.”

The parent company includes the brands Olivia’s Home, HomeFires, Simple Spaces, JellyBean, and Cozy Living. The website already has the business marked as “closed.”

According to the email, the brand will continue to answer emails and phone calls and help with any accounting issues. Buyers with questions or issues can email sales@homecomfortrugs.com.
