Jamie Young heads outside with new accent tables

ATLANTA — Furniture, accessories and lighting resource Jamie Young Co. occupies a showroom in the heart of the design floors of AmericasMart, but they had something new on tap for casual furnishings shoppers at the recently-concluded July market.
The company introduced a line of outdoor-friendly accent furniture, including ceramic, glass and fiberglass tables designed to bring both color and versatility to outdoor spaces.
Founder and President Jamie Young says it’s all part of a slow and steady expansion that keeps the brand’s signature design style front and center, while always adding new resources.
“You know, we’re going to expand, but always cautiously; we’ve got to hold our niche,” Young told Furniture Today. “The way that we design, the way that we put collections together — it really, truly speaks to our brand, and that’s how we’re expanding. We’re not trying to be everything to everyone. We’re growing in categories that still align with our look and feel, with that layered, collected aesthetic that our customers expect from us.”

Material makes the piece
The accent tables are crafted in a range of materials including glazed ceramic, mouth-blown glass and fiberglass. Color and texture are emphasized, with subtle but distinctive variations that lend a handmade quality to the pieces.
“We do a ton of smaller pieces in ceramic, concrete, inlay — all different materials. Gorgeous glazes for indoor and outdoor,” Young said. “We love a little pop of color. We love the different glazes that we do on the ceramics that are reactive, so not one is the same.”
Each material brings a specific function and feel. Ceramic pieces, for example, can handle full outdoor exposure, while the glass designs are better suited for patios or covered areas. The fiberglass tables are also fully outdoor-safe, and more innovations are in the works.
“The ceramic and fiberglass pieces are true outdoor. They can absolutely go outside, and they’re durable enough for other environments, too, like your bathroom or even a shower,” Young said. “The glass I’d probably put more on a patio or covered space, just because it’s glass.
“We have a lot of variation in materials depending on how and where you want to use them. And we’re working on even more: some incredible concrete designs with glazes over them for outdoor use, which we’re planning to launch in 2026.”
Sustainable sourcing
Sourcing plays a key role in the company’s material strategy. Jamie Young Co. continues to work across multiple countries in South and Southeast Asia, selecting each based on their manufacturing strengths.
“I just got back last week from almost three weeks in South Asia, and earlier this year, in February, we were there for another three weeks,” Young said. “We’re sourcing from Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, India and China. It’s really about going to where the best product is for each category. At this point, we’re not letting tariffs be the deciding factor. We know what China does well, what Indonesia does well, what the Philippines do well — same with Vietnam and India. Each country has its own specialty, and we work with them accordingly.”
Alongside technical expertise, the company also looks for sustainable and ethical production. During her recent trip, Young visited smaller factories producing fast-growing natural rattan and was impressed by both the material and the people behind it.
“The rattan that we’re going to be using is fast-growing, so environmentally, it’s fundamentally friendly,” she said. “The factories we’re working with are fantastic: smaller operations that are clean, well-run and family-oriented. One of the factory owners even invited my husband to take a speedboat trip out into the jungle so he could see firsthand how the rattan is sourced. It’s a four-and-a-half-hour journey through Indonesia’s islands. That’s the kind of relationship we value: It’s hands-on, and it’s real.”
Even as the brand experiments with new categories and materials, Young says that indoor accent furniture remains at the heart of its story.
“We have tons of accent furniture: natural stools in Palawana wood that are lightweight and show off the natural grain beautifully. They’re more for indoor use, but they’re perfect for layering into a space,” she explained. “It’s all about variety and texture. These aren’t just decorative objects; they’re ways to build character in a room. We’re excited about what’s coming for High Point. We’ll be introducing another 80 to 100 pieces in accent furniture alone. There’s so much more on the horizon.”
