Kathy Kuo Home: Filling a luxurious gap in e-commerce | Retail Star
The store is designed as an online retail destination for high-end furnishings and décor essentials.
Designer Kathy Kuo started her business in New York City in 2012 with a mission that everyone should love where they live.
“I had noticed a gap in the e-commerce marketplace when it came to luxury home furnishings and accents, so I set out to create a retail destination for high-end furnishings and décor essentials,” said Kuo, whose eponymous store, Kathy Kuo Home, is online only.
Nominated by 2024 ART award-winning sales rep Russ Jones of Ivystone, Jones noted that two of Kuo’s core values include gratitude and a desire for feedback.
“It’s important to have appreciation for our wins, our wonderful team members, and the amazing peers we have in the interiors industry,” she said. “And at the same time, it’s essential to solicit feedback at every stage in order to grow.”
Known as a TV personality for her role as a judge on A&E’s Rowhouse Showdown, Kuo said she has developed an eye for curating during her 20+ years in the industry by sourcing and designing luxury furniture and homewares.
Kuo believes it’s important to give back through mentorship and advocating for fellow female entrepreneurs. Her company hosts a monthly webinar series for the trade community to help expose what Kuo calls “industry secrets.”
The company also gives back through donating to charitable partners such as Design on a Dime and One Tree Planted.
