Founder of Habersham Furniture, Joyce Edwards Cash Eddy, died at her home on Oct. 24, 2024, at the age of 95.
CLARKESVILLE, Ga. — Founder of Habersham Furniture, Joyce Edwards Cash Eddy, died at her home on Oct. 24, 2024, at the age of 95.
Born on Oct. 4, 1929, in Ravenna, Ohio, to William and Cora Mae Cash, Eddy founded Habersham Furniture in 1972 in Clarkesville. The company grew from a local artisan endeavor into a nationally recognized brand celebrated for impeccable craftsmanship, classic style and enduring quality.
Eddy was honored in 1984 as Business Woman of the Year, and in 1986, President Ronald Reagan recognized her as Georgia Business Woman of the Year during a White House briefing for women entrepreneurs.
She retired from Habersham in 2016, entrusting the leadership of the company to her son Matt Eddy, who now guides the family business alongside his own children, Brandon and Mallory Eddy.
Eddy is survived by her sister; her two sons, Craig and Matthew; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
