Rug Report – abc carpet & home expands; Rugs America and Holly Hunt launch new rugs
This week’s rug report highlights lots of personalized options in floor coverings.
Abc carpet & home is expanding its flagship store at 888 Broadway to add 11,000 square feet of design space. The new space will provide a new environment for personalized client experiences, according to the company.
The company emerged from bankruptcy in 2021 after being acquired by 888 Capital Partners. It then returned to its roots and focused more heavily on the rug category.
The newly reopened mezzanine/second floor will feature a custom rug and carpet studio and an event space capable of hosting a series of designer and author events beginning with the grand opening event on Oct. 22.
The brand is also expanding its product offerings into oversized and custom rugs, including the introduction of its new Quick Ship Custom Rug Program. Abc carpet & home has also reintroduced Cisco Home’s high-quality furniture pieces, along with a “successful partnership” with British brand Pooky Lighting.

Rugs America is launching an array of two-million-point, high-density super lush area rugs under the company’s Badgley Mischka brand.
The company said its launch of Oasis under Badgley Mischka presents an exciting opportunity for retailers to refresh their product selections and showcase a diverse range of rugs that blend style and practicality.
Premium materials and elegant designs characterize this new line, the company said. Each piece is crafted with high-density viscose yarn, which offers a silky, opulent touch. Rugs America said this launch will help to expand its product line.

Holly Hunt’s new fall collection includes more than 40 designs and 160 colorways across rugs, textiles, leather and trims.
Inspired by ‘a stroll through the conservatory,’ the company said these patterns take cues from the natural world — drawing upon “the evergreen beauty of the plant kingdom of nature and its timeless splendor.”
Regarding the two new area rugs, the modern design of the palm rug showcases a large leaf pattern and presents an organic form for the floor. As with all the company’s rugs, customers choose the size, color and yarn type, and the company’s artisans produce a one-of-a-kind hand-knotted rug.
Another new rug is called Dapples, with a versatile design inspired by the shadows created when the sun shines through the trees. Holly Hunt shows it as a two-color pattern, but it could also work as a one-color pattern where each half of the design is woven with a different surface.
