Rug store releases risqué ad campaign

NEW ORLEANS – Scott McKearn, the founder of Banana Manor, which sells area rugs, is here to prove with his new ad campaign that a little skin goes a long way in the world of home furnishings.

The retailer, one of Home Accents Today’s Retail Stars in 2023, is a New Orleans-based importer that works with a third-generation rug weaving facility in Bhadohi, India.

With the new ad campaign launching this week, New Orleans has been treated to a series of provocative billboards that are sure to get people talking (and maybe blushing). In the ad, McKearn poses like a centerfold model, lounging on a pile of rugs, with very little left to the imagination.

“Let’s just say some billboard companies got a little nervous,” McKearn admits. “We had to add a little digital cover-up here and there, but the essence remains as daring as ever. No tricks, no illusions—just the bare truth, the way customers like it.”

McKearn’s goal is to showcase nationally that their vertically integrated model makes them unlike any other rug retailer, establishing Banana Manor as the largest rug factory outlet in the U.S.

With a strong emphasis on offering more in-stock Oushaks than anyone else, Banana Manor is able to create the best value for handmade rugs while delivering unmatched quality and variety to both interior designers and everyday customers, according to McKearn.

McKearn has plans to expand the campaign to other major markets like Atlanta and Dallas and is set on making waves.

“We’re not just selling rugs; we’re selling an attitude. And that attitude is all about fun, a little mischief, and a whole lot of value,” he said.

McKearn also plans to exhibit at the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market in January with a large, three-sided sign in the Expo Hall that he is confident won’t go unnoticed.
