Vitra and Konstantin Grcic's Scout is "dynamic tool" for today's work and learning environments"

Promotion: embracing a "beta mindset", Swiss furniture brand Vitra and German industrial designer Konstantin Grcic have released a new flexible table system for offices or educational settings named Scout.
Scout's beta philosophy values evolution over flawlessness, and shuns perfection in favour of the dynamism of change and development.

"Today's world is defined by uncertainty, which calls for a beta mindset – a culture that values exploration over perfection and embraces change as an essential part of progress," said Vitra.
"Translated into a physical setting, this means moving beyond designated innovation areas to environments that enable learning, connection and change."

Grcic's Scout system aims to encapsulate this way of thinking by fostering interior environments that are adaptable and quick to embrace change, whether this be on a week-to-week or inter-daily basis.
"With the introduction of Scout, Vitra offers tools that support this mindset and unlock the potential of such adaptable environments," the brand continued.

Scout was designed in response to the challenges facing contemporary offices, including economic uncertainty, socio-political instability, workplaces post-Covid, and jobs threatened by AI.
Both Vitra and Grcic aimed for forward-thinking companies to benefit from the system, from an overarching company perspective to a day-to-day employee level.

Scout comprises work and meeting tables, including two stationary and three mobile models that can be arranged in a plethora of different configurations.
Beyond solo working desks and conventional meetings, the designer aimed for the pieces to facilitate workshops, courses, sessions and team building activities.

The tables have either rectangular or trapezoidal tabletops, the latter of which can be connected to form dynamic arrangements, from large circular shapes to zig-zagging work stations.
A strap at the back of the tops makes some models height adjustable, creating opportunities for both standing and seated work.

Each piece is made from sturdy tubular steel – a structural consideration that becomes an aesthetic calling card for the collection. These come in a pair of neutral colourways to suit any office design scheme.
Some models offer personalisation options via attachment points, onto which a selection of accessories and screens can be mounted. These come in a spectrum of bright and neutral colours to complement the frames.

"Scout was created as a dynamic tool – mobile, adaptable and open-ended," added Grcic.
"It doesn't prescribe a single way of use but allows for flexible, personal setups – in a world where work and learning can happen anywhere, Scout adapts effortlessly to the moment."
