SAN FRANCISCO  — Williams-Sonoma Inc., a digital-first, design-led and sustainable home retailer, has published its 2023 Impact Report, highlighting its progress towards the company’s industry-leading sustainability and social impact goals.

Along with its focus on operational efficiencies and solutions to further its sustainability goals, the company also launched GreenRow in 2023, a new sustainability-focused home furnishings brand.

“The progress we have made towards our sustainability goals reflects our company’s on-going commitment to innovation and continuous improvement,” said Laura Alber, president and CEO of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. “We continue to evaluate and execute on opportunities across all aspects of our business that allow us to have a positive impact on our planet and drive sustainable growth.”

The report is organized by three pillars, representing the areas of sustainability and impact efforts: Planet, focused on climate and energy, responsible materials, and waste and circularity; People, focused on ethical production, worker wellbeing, investing in associates, and DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion); and Purpose, focused on corporate citizenship, ethics ad oversight, and giving and volunteering.

The report also outlines the company’s goals, milestone achievements and how its efforts measure up.

Highlights from the 2023 report include:

  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions across the company’s value chain driven by the adoption of renewable energy, including expanded use of green power and solar power.
  • Adoption of innovative packaging solutions and the reduction of unnecessary packaging.
  • Continued investment in Fair Trade Premiums, Nest Certified Ethically Handcrafted products, and other worker wellbeing programs.
  • Diversion of waste from landfills.
  • Strengthened commitments to worker wellbeing programs that positively impact communities around the world where Williams-Sonoma, Inc. business is conducted.
