IMM Cologne 2025 canceled

COLOGNE, Germany — With the German furniture industry struggling for business, the organizers of the IMM Cologne 2025, set for Jan. 12-16, said the tradeshow is “taking a time-out in January,” according to the show website.

Koelnmesse, the Assn. of the German Furniture Industry and the Furniture and Kitchens Trade Assn. have decided to cancel the event for next year, saying, “The current challenges in the furniture industry, above all the difficult economic framework conditions in Germany, are the reason for this move.”

The organizers say they are working on a new format that will take into account the changed demands of exhibitors and visitors.

In a newsletter post, Hans Verschuur, Dutch representative of Koelnmesse, said, “Several major companies had already decided not to attend, creating a snowball effect with other participants. As a result, the organization has too few exhibitors to host a successful fair, and canceling was the most logical decision.”

He said the organizers were assessing future plans for the show.

The show website notes that two industry events are still slated for Cologne:

  • Orgatec, a trade fair for modern working worlds, set for Oct. 22-25
  • Interzum, a trade fair for furniture production and interior design, set for May 20-23, 2025
