Promotion: US technology company Snaptrude's software features an AI element designed to alleviate pressure on architects by enabling them to produce more work in less time without compromising quality.

The platform is the third version of the cloud-based, collaborative 3D building design tool, which includes four primary modes: Program, Design, Present and BIM.

The software was designed to allow for a more efficient and quicker development of early concepts, which "reduces friction in the earliest phases of design".

Users input simple prompts to create a design-ready project

According to Snaptrude, the recently added AI Mode allows users to input simple prompts to create a design-ready project. Here, the AI acts as a collaborator, cutting an architect's overtime.

"Snaptrude has always been about giving architects smarter, faster tools," said the company. "Our next major release brings AI directly into the early stages of design, helping teams go from zero to one faster while keeping them fully in control of the outcome."

The software works by users adding an architectural prompt to its platform's search section, such as "mid-rise office building in downtown Chicago".

The AI responds and analyses the brief, taking into account the site, context, dimensions, building regulations and other details. In a few seconds, it generates inspirational images and a layout of a building, which is organised to meet the target requirements.

Also listed are the individual steps the AI system took to come to its conclusions, informing the architect throughout the process.

The platform finds the key information needed to start shaping a design instantly

This new development enables designers to quickly get the key information needed to start a project. It aims to speed up the design process, without people having to dig for information and start from scratch.

"Starting a project no longer has to mean staring at a blank canvas," said the company. "With Snaptrude's AI stack, you can simply describe the building type, the site, and the intended use."

The software enables a quicker development of early concepts

"One of the most time-consuming parts of early design is just getting to the ground truth," continued the company.

"Instead of piecing together programs or wrestling with massing from scratch, you begin with an intelligent starting point already aligned to your goals, and because the transition from AI mode to design mode is seamless, you can immediately take full control, customising, iterating, and refining without losing momentum."

Snaptrude was launched by engineer Altaf Ganihar seven years ago and intends to empower architects to design more efficiently.

The company offers a free trial, allowing architects to build their first three projects for free.
