Dezeen Awards 2025 architecture shortlist reveals world's best buildings

Dezeen has announced the architecture shortlist for this year's Dezeen Awards, which includes buildings by AIM Architecture, Olson Kundig Architects and Herzog & de Meuron.

The 92 shortlisted projects, which are in the running for awards in 17 different architecture project categories, are by studios located across 30 different countries, including Australia, Mexico, Indonesia, Uganda, Taiwan and Czech Republic.

The top five represented studio countries are Australia with 12 shortlisted projects, followed by the USA and China tied with nine, the UK with seven and Mexico with six shortlisted projects.

Shortlisted projects include a social housing block designed with "non-hierarchical" floor plans in Barcelona, a performing arts centre constructed from earth bricks in Uganda and an L-shaped house with plywood interiors and playful details in New York.

The shortlist also features a cork-wrapped 1970s house in London, an artisanal mezcal production facility in Mexico and a courtyard house built with reclaimed materials in Belgium.

Dezeen Awards 2025 shortlists revealed this week

Dezeen Awards 2025, in partnership with Bentley, will reveal all shortlisted projects this week. The interior shortlist will be published tomorrow, followed by the design shortlist on Wednesday and the sustainability shortlist on Thursday.
